Join us on Friday, October 11th for the Meet the Local Candidates Breakfast, hosted by the Democratic Business Council of Northern Virginia, featuring three Democrats, dynamic leaders who are running for local office across Northern Virginia. Gather with like-minded professionals and leaders at Courthaus Social near the Courthouse Metro station from 7:30 to 9:30 am.
Julius D. “JD” Spain, Sr. is a retired Marine Corps combat veteran and a business leader. JD previously served as a federal investigator, Arlington County civil service commissioner, and NAACP Arlington Branch president—he has been a community leader since his military family relocated to the area 15 years ago.
Alyia Gaskins, who currently serves as a councilwoman in the City of Alexandria and is a candidate for Mayor, brings a wealth of experience in community engagement and advocacy. Her commitment to social justice and equity drives her efforts to create inclusive policies that benefit all residents.
Catherine Read, Mayor of the City of Fairfax, is known for her innovative approach to local governance. With a strong background in planning and community service, she focuses on sustainable development and improving public transportation options.
